Ty Cunningham has over 40 years of experience in scout tracking, survival, defense, and pack animal tactical applications and teaching. He is a retired Supervisory Deputy and Tactical Commander in the United States Marshals Service and an Indigenous SAAMI. Has taught government scout tactical training and employment cumulatively to thousands; before, during, and after his employment with the U.S. Marshals. Has solved hundreds of tracking investigative cases during his law enforcement tenure and is a U.S. Marshals Certified Master Scout Tracker (CMST).
From 1984 to 2005, he served in the U.S. Army Combat Arms (Active and Guard). As an infantry long range surveillance (LRS) senior scout and staff sergeant he mastered the skills of close quarter battle strategy, operational tactics, and all-weapon synchronization. Having mastered terrain analysis and austere adaptability to his environment he developed the modern scout tracking system. He is truly a mountain man in the soldiery sense and continues to pass on his tactical skills.
In 1995, Ty was selected to the FBI Anchorage Regional SWAT team as the first non-FBI agent in U.S. History to achieve this honor. He spent three years serving as a tactical entry operator and tracked for the team in rural operations until 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he developed and served as commander of the Special Warrant Detail-Tactical Tracking Unit (SWD-TTU) for the U.S. Marshals District of Alaska and from 2003 to 2006 he developed and served as patrol captain and commander of the Special Warrant Detail-Mounted Tracking Unit (SWD-MTU) for the U.S. Marshals District of Wyoming.
Ty is a certified police instructor, tactical firearms instructor, police jujitsu instructor, man-tracking Instructor, and backcountry enforcement specialist. Ty is also a Federal and State Court certified expert in self-defense, officer survival, defensive tactics, man-tracking, footprint evidence, and arctic/sub-arctic survival.
Ty has been the strategy, tactics, and tracking technical advisor on over a dozen fiction novels: Pray for Justice & Hide and Seek published by Publication Consultants of Anchorage, Alaska and Books in Motion of Spokane, Washington, To Hell and Beyond published by Pinnacle Books of New York City, New York, and the new international thriller books by Marc Cameron, National Security, Act of Terror, State of Emergency, and Time of Attack, to name a few. He has also been the tracking technical advisor for Alaska Outdoor Magazine’s Radio Show, KBYR 700, Ty’s Tuesday Tracking Tip.
In 2004, Ty was cast as the team leader for the tracking team in the Red Brick Entertainment TV show, “The Chase: Trackdown” which aired on Court TV, and in 2011, as an on-camera professional tracking consultant and trackway behavior scientist in the Travel Channels Anchorage Episode of “Hidden City.”
Over the years, Ty has been recognized for his scout tracking research and application methodologies by many national & international organizations and publications to include most notably the National Native American Law Enforcement Officers Association newsletter, Royal Canadian Mounted Police publication, “Gazette” published titled Modern-Day Scouts, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service newsletter.
In 2010, Ty was the national selectee by the U.S. Marshals Service Training Academy to attend the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where he earned a terminal Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS) degree and was one of the distinguished graduates for his thesis on Human Tracking Forensics ( Forensic Spoorology) out of a student body of over one thousand military U.S. and foreign field grade officers.
Since his retirement in 2012, he has continued to pass on his knowledge as an author, teacher, and consultant.

As a certified Tactical Tracker, Instructor Graham has successfully employed Visual Tracking techniques within his law enforcement career. Through the use of this skillset, Graham has been able to close numerous Burglaries and Assault cases and continues to work on expanding his and his Department’s abilities by incorporating Visual Tracking throughout his Department and community.
Graham has served as a Law Enforcement Patrol Supervisor, Drug Enforcement Unit Investigator and a Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor with the State of Oklahoma.
He has spent 19 years in the U.S. Army where he is currently serving as a Non-Commissioned Officer with the Reserves as an Observer Coach/Trainers (OC/T), Total Army Instructor, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Instructor and Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) Master Trainer.
He has also worked as a Private Military Contractor with the Department of Defense where he served in Iraq as Personal Security Detachment for the Navy’s Admiral over Iraqi Reconstruction. In addition to this, Graham has served as a State Trooper with the Highway Patrol and as Bail Enforcement Agent, which is where hunting and tracking people first took hold. Graham has dedicated his career to learning and passing that knowledge along to fellow Officers to aid them in their efforts to not only close cases efficiently, provide more safety and security to their areas of operations, but also to ensure that those Officers return home safe. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Graham is very dedicated to Spearpoint, it’s clients, and its mission to provide the best training available that can be utilized ultimately to save lives.

Instructor Michael Counts is a skilled Tactical Tracker, SWAT Team Breaching Specialist and State Law Enforcement Instructor. Counts was first introduced to animal tracking at a young age, which later led to formal mantracking training for manhunts as a member of Special Weapons & Tactics.
In addition to his service within SWAT, and due to his training and experience within Tactical Tracking Operations, Counts also serves as an Assistant Team Leader for his Agency’s Tactical Tracking & Reconnaissance Unit (TTU). TTU is commonly tasked with covert rural surveillance, high risk fugitive apprehension, sensitive sight exploitation and search & rescue operations.
This current real world experience highlights his status as a Law Enforcement Tactical Tracking subject matter expert. Through his service on TTU he has successfully apprehended fugitives, located evidence to support criminal prosecution, provided theory for criminal investigations and located missing persons.
As a State certified Law Enforcement Instructor, Counts specializes in teaching Visual Tracking, Urban Tactical Movement, Building Searches, Breaching TTPs and Rural Small Unit Tactics to Law Enforcement. Counts is dedicated to taking his current real world knowledge and experience and sharing it through instruction with the Law Enforcement & Tactical Community.

Instructor Latif Whitsett is a skilled SWAT assistant team leader, dignitary protection specialist, firearms instructor, and state law enforcement instructor. Through his many years of service in law enforcement tactical operations, Whitsett has developed a highly specialized skillset of tactics, techniques, and procedures.
In addition to his service within SWAT, Whitsett currently serves as a specialized member of a law enforcement dignitary protection team. The team is commonly tasked with close protection, advanced planning, counter sniper reconnaissance and close quarters combat.
This current real-world experience highlights his status as a law enforcement tactical operations subject matter expert. In addition to his skillset in tactical operations, Whitsett currently serves as a law enforcement supervisor assigned to a specialized patrol unit that is commonly tasked with community policing and criminal investigations related to drug interdiction.
As a State certified Law Enforcement Instructor, Whitsett specializes in teaching firearm proficiency, urban tactical movement, building searches, ballistic shield techniques, low light tactical operations and vehicle ambush survival to students from law enforcement and security related backgrounds. Whitsett is dedicated to taking his current real-world knowledge and sharing it through Spearpoint Group with the law enforcement, military & tactical community.

Instructor Gabe Graveline began his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic in 2005. During that time, he accumulated countless certifications including FAA Certified Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF). He has participated as an honor guard member, and has served on several committees. Graveline is responsible for the development and deployment of a well renowned robotics program for a large municipal fire department.
He has also developed an Urban Search & Rescue Team Robotics Program, for a state level government task force which is a state and FEMA deployable disaster resource. As a member of that task force, he has been deployed on several disasters, utilizing drones and his aviation expertise to assist various governmental agencies.
Gabriel is a consultant to several public safety and emergency management departments for best practices in UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and robotics use. He continues to train first responders to not only become licensed and legal, but to become knowledgeable in utilizing robotics in actual emergency situations. Gabriel holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science and is currently assigned as an active team member of a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team.

Instructor Nicholas Tirello is an Oklahoma CLEET certified law enforcement instructor, former SWAT team sniper, Dignitary protection team member and criminal investigator. Prior to his law enforcement career, Tirello served in the U.S. Navy where he was assigned to support a Special Operations Group within the Naval Special Warfare Command.
While serving as a law enforcement officer he was selected to serve as a SWAT entry team member. Due to his unwavering dedication to the SWAT Team, he was selected to perform as a SWAT Sniper. During his role as a SWAT Sniper, Tirello optimized his tradecraft in camouflage, concealment, hostage rescue engagements, target detection, stealth movement and advanced observation techniques.
Tirello was soon selected to serve on a law enforcement Dignitary Protection team. This team was tasked with dignitary protection for public officials, witnesses, dignitaries, and any other persons who require protective security. Tirello became proficient in team formations, threat identification, route surveys, motorcade operations, advance location planning, close protective detail operations, site security and special event security.
As a skilled criminal investigator, Tirello investigated hundreds of felony criminal cases utilizing proper evidence handling, crime scene photograph logs, interview & interrogation techniques, search warrants and stakeouts.
Additionally, Tirello holds an Associates in Criminal Justice and is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experience and through Spearpoint Group.
